Getting North Island work from your website
Campbell River is the biggest town north of the Comox Valley. Past it, the towns get smaller and further apart. A good website helps you skip the wasted trips.
What do North Island homeowners worry about most?
The weather. The North Island gets a lot of rain and wind, and Port Hardy gets far more rain than Victoria.
Roofs, gutters, drainage and heating systems take a beating. Show your storm repair work and tell people how you handle call-outs after a big blow.
How should I handle island jobs?
Be clear about ferries. Quadra Island is a short ride from Campbell River, and Cortes is one more ferry past it.
Say if you charge for ferry time. Clear terms up front stop surprises later.
How do I handle jobs far up Highway 19?
Some trades save up jobs and do them on one trip. If you work that way, say so on your site.
A line like “We’re in Port Hardy every few weeks” helps people plan. It also fills your trip with more than one job.
What about Gold River and the west side?
Highway 28 runs west from Campbell River to Gold River. Tahsis is further out, on a gravel road past Gold River.
If you’ll go out there, name those towns. People in remote spots look for that first.
Is fishing and tourism work worth adding?
It can be. Campbell River calls itself the Salmon Capital of the World, and fishing lodges and resorts need trades too.
If you do commercial jobs, add them to your services. Lodge owners need people who will show up before their season starts.
What about Port McNeill and the islands near it?
Port McNeill has ferries to Alert Bay and Sointula, on Cormorant and Malcolm Islands. Port Alice is a small village on Neroutsos Inlet.
These are small places. If you’ll go there, name them on your site and make it easy to ask for a quote.
Does a website matter in a small town?
It does. Even in a small town, people look you up before they hire. They want to see your work and how to reach you.
