How Much Does a Contractor Website Cost in Victoria, BC?

Here’s the short answer. A website for a Victoria trade can cost anywhere from about $250 a year to $15,000 or more. Building it yourself on Wix or Squarespace runs about $250 to $550 a year. A local freelancer often charges $500 to $5,000 up front, and an agency often charges $5,000 to $15,000 or more.

There’s also a monthly option. Mine is $97 a month with $0 down, and hosting and edits are included.

The right pick comes down to two things. How much cash you want to tie up, and who keeps the site working after it goes live. Here’s what each option really costs, so you can compare quotes with your eyes open.

What does a website cost in Victoria, BC?

Here are the four main ways to get a site, side by side.

  • Build it yourself. About $21 to $45 a month for a Wix or Squarespace plan. That’s roughly $250 to $550 a year, plus your nights and weekends.

  • Local freelancer. About $500 to $5,000 up front. Hosting and changes after launch usually cost extra.

  • Agency. About $5,000 to $15,000 or more up front, often with a monthly fee on top.

  • Monthly plan. $97 a month with TradesWebsites.ca. $0 down, with hosting and unlimited edits included.

These ranges come from Victoria web designers who post their prices online and from the Wix and Squarespace pricing pages, checked in October 2026. Prices are before tax.

How much does it cost to build your own website?

Wix and Squarespace both start at about $21 a month in Canada when you pay for the year up front. Pay month to month and Squarespace’s basic plan is $30. If you want to take deposits or bookings online, plan on the next tier up, which is about $32 to $33 a month on a yearly plan.

The plan is the cheap part. The real cost is your time. You write every word, take the photos, set up the contact form and figure out how to show up on Google. Then you keep it all up to date after a 10-hour day on the tools.

What does a Victoria freelancer charge?

Victoria designers who post their prices start at about $500 to $1,800 for a small site of around 5 pages. Sites with online booking or a store start at about $3,500.

That’s usually a one time payment for the build. After launch, you pay for hosting and for changes. Some freelancers include the first year of hosting, then bill you after that. Local care plans for hosting and small edits run about $39 to $200 a month.

A good freelancer can build you a great site. Before you hire one, ask who makes changes after launch, how fast, and what each change costs.

What does an agency charge?

Agency builds often start around $5,000 and can go past $15,000. You get a team and a process. You also help pay for their office and their project managers.

For a big company with several crews and a marketing budget, that can make sense. For a small crew with one or two trucks, it’s a lot of money to tie up before the site books a single job.

What costs show up after the site is live?

The build price is only part of the bill. Watch for these.

  • Domain name. About $15 to $30 a year for a .ca or .com. Make sure it’s in your name, not your designer’s.

  • Hosting. Built into DIY plans. Otherwise about $15 to $60 a month.

  • Changes and upkeep. A care plan, or an hourly bill every time you add a service or swap a photo.

  • Tax. Ask if the quote includes GST.

  • Sale prices. Builder discounts often cover the first year only. Check the renewal price.

Before you compare quotes, add the build price to 3 years of monthly costs. That’s the number that tells you what you’re really paying. For a wider look at the options, see how much a contractor website should cost.

What does $97 a month get you?

I built my plan for trades who are busy on the tools and don’t want a big bill up front. Here’s what’s in it.

  • 5 pages. Home, about, services, contact and locations. Extra pages are $100 each, one time.

  • Unlimited content edits. Send me the change and I make it. You never log in to anything.

  • Fast, secure hosting. It’s included, so there’s no second bill.

  • Live in 7 days. Once I have your info and photos.

  • $0 down and no contract. Pause or cancel anytime. If you cancel, the site is taken offline.

  • First month refund. If it’s not a fit, you get your first month back.

  • You own your domain. It stays in your name.

  • No GST charged. $97 is the price.

  • 1-on-1 support. You deal with me. No account managers and no call centres.

See the full details on the pricing page.

Which option makes sense for your business?

  • Just starting out with time to spare. DIY is fine for now.

  • Want to own the files and run the site yourself. Get a fixed quote from a local freelancer.

  • Bigger company with a marketing team. An agency may fit.

  • Busy on the tools and want it handled. A flat monthly plan keeps your cash in the business.

I’m based in Victoria and build sites for trades in Victoria and Saanich, Langford and the Westshore and up to Nanaimo. Whether you’re a plumber or a roofer, the site is built around the work you actually do.

Common questions about website cost in Victoria

How much does a website cost per month?

A DIY plan on Wix or Squarespace costs about $21 to $45 a month. If someone else built your site, local care plans run about $39 to $200 a month. My plan is $97 a month with the site, hosting and edits all included.

Do I own my domain?

With me, yes. Your domain stays in your name. Whoever you hire, ask this before you pay. If the domain is in someone else’s name, leaving can get messy.

How fast can my website be live?

With my plan, it’s live in 7 days once I have your info and photos. A custom build with a freelancer or agency often takes a few weeks or more.
